CIMA is a body incorporated by a Royal charter which grants CIMA's powers and sets out the institute’s objectives.
The Royal charter, byelaws and regulations are the institute’s governing documents. They are the rules that regulate the conduct of all students and members, and CIMA's management through its council, which governs the institute as enabled by the byelaws.
The byelaws provide for the operational framework and the regulations may make provision in respect of any matter related to the affairs of the Institute and its members and registered students.
CIMA's regulatory framework underpins the professional standing of its members and students through regulation, monitoring and where necessary disciplinary procedures. It ensures members are competent, trusted and working within the public interest.
Information about the royal charter, byelaws and regulations can be found in our members' handbook.
