CPD event with Prof Alnoor Bhimani
CIMA held a successful CPD event for CIMA members and students at the Nairobi Serena Hotel, in the Allamanda room.
Professor Alnoor Bhimani, one of the world’s leading professors in management accounting, was the special guest, making a presentation on the theme ‘Globalisation and management accounting’.

About the speaker
Alnoor Bhimani is professor of management accounting and head of the department of accounting at the London School of Economics. He holds an MBA from Cornell University, where he was a Fulbright scholar, and holds a PhD from LSE. He is also a certified management accountant (Canada).
He has written for an extensive list of scholarly publications and serves on the editorial board of numerous journals, and is the author of 15 books and over 100 articles. His edited books Management accounting in the digital economy (OUP, 2003) and Strategic finance (Strategy Press, 2008) and coauthored work Management accounting: prospect and retrospect (CIMA/Elsevier, 2009) are regarded as driving innovative thinking and research in the area.
He has undertaken accounting and management control related research in a variety of global enterprises and has presented his findings to corporate executives and academic audiences internationally.
2010 CIMA Kenya annual dinner
The CIMA Kenyan branch held its annual dinner on 27 November 2010.
With 52 members, students and guests in attendance, guest speaker Mr Donald Ouma, head of market and product development at the Nairobi stock exchange, gave a brief talk on the topic: ‘Developments in the Kenya capital markets and the role that management accountants can play in the markets’.
The keynote address was by Mr Mugo Kibati, director general of Vision 2030, and was entitled ‘The role that management accountants can play in the achievement of Vision 2030’.
