The offer
For a fee of GBP120, you can sit the CIMA professional gateway assessment which includes:
- student registration = GBP70
- exam fee = GBP50
CIMA professional gateway assessment
If you pass the management accountants’ gateway, you will be granted 11 exemptions (no charge for exemptions) from CIMA’s certificate, operational and management level exams. You then only need to sit and pass three strategic level examinations, the case study, and fulfil the work based practical experience, before being eligible for full CIMA membership. The exam is three hours long and can be taken at any CIMA exam centre.
Student registration
Before you sit the management accountants’ gateway exam, you must register as a CIMA student.
Student registration deadline
You must have registered as a CIMA student by 31 January to enter the May exam and by 31 July to enter the November exam.
Exam entry
Once you register as a CIMA student and your documents have been processed, you will receive an email instructing you to enter the CIMA exam via your MY CIMA account. Find out more about exam entry.
Exam entry deadline
To sit the master's gateway assessment exam in May, ensure you register for the assessment by 14 March.
To sit the exam in November, ensure you register for the assessment by 14 September.
Fees and payment
Each exam sitting costs GBP50. The fee can be paid by credit card online during exam entry or be sent by bank draft. CIMA must receive payment no later than the published exam deadline date. Always write your CIMA contact ID on the back of any bank drafts.
Students will not be required to pay exemption fees for the 11 exempted papers. The student registration fee and annual subscription fee are the same as for all students.
You may combine your registration and exam fee in one payment. You can pay by credit card via your MY CIMA account by logging in and selecting 'My Financials' and then 'Settle my account'. You may be directed to update your personal details first if you have not done this.
Syllabus
The management accountants’ gateway syllabus covers material from the following management level papers: P2 performance management, E2 enterprise management and F2 financial management.
The three hour paper (plus 20 minutes' reading time) has the following structure and syllabus content:
Section A - three compulsory questions each worth 25 marks.
1. P2 syllabus area B – cost planning and analysis for competitive advantage
2. E2 syllabus area B – project management
3. F2 syllabus area A – group financial statements
Section B - a series of objective test questions totalling 25 marks, from all other areas of the P2, E2 and F2 syllabi not covered in section A.
The pass mark for the paper is 50 marks.
